Weingartner, Town Board Liaison Lew Grubham, Town Board Liaison Youth Commission Advisory Board Members Phillip Payne Overview The mission of the Town Board and Youth Commission is to provide a safe social environment free of charge to all residents living in the Town of Kirkwood. The Town feels that all the youth in the Town have the right to enjoy youth programming and activities. Only Town of Kirkwood residents are eligible to compete in youth sports. Questions of eligibility maybe directed to either of the Recreation Supervisors listed above. Sig-Ups
The Summer Nursery School is for children ages 3 – 5. The goals of the program are to better acclimate the children to a group setting similar to one they will face in a school setting. The children will go through an abbreviated school day where they will have the opportunity for free time, time outdoors on the playground, music and story time, and snack time. The program runs Monday – Thursday from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Floyd Bell Elementary School in Kirkwood. Sign – Ups for the Summer Nursery School Program will be held in the 3rd week of June from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM in the Kirkwood Town Hall. Check out the main page of the website for updates. The Summer Fun Arts and Crafts Program is a Kirkwood – Conklin joint program designed for children in Kindergarten – 5th Grade. The children are able to work on a variety of projects that will be pre-determined by the instructors. They will also have a designated time outside (weather permitting) to play games or use the playground if desired. Children are asked to bring a bagged lunch. The program runs Monday – Thursday from 9:00 AM – 1:00 AM at Floyd Bell Elementary School in Kirkwood. The Town’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt is held on the Saturday before Easter at River Park. All youth involved in the program will hunt for candy and special eggs. Also there maybe a special appearance by the Easter Bunny. The Easter Egg Hunt is open to all Town of Kirkwood Residents. The Town’s Annual Christmas Party is held the Saturday before Christmas. Children will be able to go on horse cart rides, visit with Santa’s Elves, and get their last minute Christmas wishes in with Santa before he returns to the North Pole. Also there are special appearances by Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Children will receive gifts; snacks and beverages will be provided.
