Overview

At the beginning of each January bills are mailed to town property owners.  For property owners whose taxes are held in escrow, bills may be forwarded directly to appropriate lending institutions.

Payment schedule information is contained on each bill. 

Payments may be in person at the Tax Collector's Office during the following times: January:  Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (except Holidays) 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm

February:  Monday and Thursday (except Holidays)  9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm and Friday, February 29th 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm (1% penalty due in February)

March:  Monday and Thursday 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm  (2% penalty due in March plus $1.00 for 2nd notice fee)

Payments can also be made in person Monday thru Friday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, January 2nd thru March 31st  (except Holidays) as follows: Broome County Office Building, 2nd Floor Real Property Tax Dept., 44 Hawley Street,  Binghamton, NY

Inquiries regarding property tax collection may be directed to 778-2730, 778-2309, 778-2169, 778-6504.

Important Information

• Please check address on bill, if incorrect fill in on stub part.
• Be sure checks are signed, and the amount is the same as the written portion.
• Unpaid taxes after March 31st are directed to the Broome County Finance Office (778 – 2161)

Important Dates

• Taxes MUST be postmarked on or prior to March 31.
